Sunday is a unique day, bridging the past and the future. It marks both an ending and a beginning—a reset point that can set the tone for the week ahead.
A well-spent Sunday can elevate a good week to greatness or provide much-needed recovery after a difficult one. It’s a day to reset, clear your mind, and recentre yourself, allowing you to step into the new week with focus and energy.
We all know the benefits of a great Sunday, but how do we create one? The answer lies in three essential Fs: Family, Fasting, and Food.
1. Family
Family comes first for a reason—it’s the foundation of a fulfilling life. Prioritizing time with loved ones offers countless physical and mental health benefits, reinforcing emotional stability and strengthening bonds.
One of my favourite family activities is a long walk or short hike. It offers a shared challenge, a chance to disconnect from screens, and an opportunity to simply be present with each other. The fresh air, the conversations, and the shared experience create lasting memories.
That said, hiking isn’t for everyone. Any activity that encourages real connection—without distractions—is valuable. Whether it’s playing a board game, working on a project together, or simply sitting and talking, the key is unplugging and being fully present.
The most important family ritual? Sharing a meal.
Even if it’s just once a week, make time to sit together at the table, eat, and talk—no screens, no distractions. Yes, it takes effort, but I guarantee you’ll be grateful you made it a priority.
2. Fasting
Fasting may seem counterintuitive, but it’s one of the most powerful ways to reset both body and mind. Every weekend, from Saturday evening to Sunday evening, I do a 24-hour water-only fast.
The benefits are undeniable:
It flushes toxins from the body, giving your system a clean slate.
It builds discipline, confidence, and self-control—resisting temptation strengthens your mental fortitude.
It teaches you that hunger is temporary, and discomfort is not a reason to quit.
As David Goggins says, “Suffering is a test.” Fasting forces you to face discomfort and push through it, proving to yourself that you are in control—not your impulses.
3. Food
It may seem ironic that food follows fasting, but in reality, it’s the perfect balance.
By the time your fast is over, your body has burned through stored energy and cleared out toxins. This is your chance to refuel with purpose.
Instead of indulging in junk food, use this opportunity to nourish your body with a well-rounded meal—lean protein, fresh vegetables, and healthy carbohydrates. For me, nothing beats a Sunday roast. It’s a tradition, a family bonding experience, and a way to start the week strong.
If a roast isn’t your style, opt for a hearty stew, a stir-fry, or another nutrient-rich meal. The key is intention—make your first meal of the week one that fuels both body and mind.
Seize the Day
And that’s it—the formula for a perfect Sunday.
Quality time with family—leaving you feeling connected and fulfilled.
A discipline-building fast—strengthening both body and mind.
A nourishing meal—preparing you for the challenges ahead.
Follow these steps, and you’ll find yourself more focused, more energized, and more prepared to take on whatever the new week brings.
But don’t just take my word for it—seize the day and try it for yourself.
